On the 26th July 1991 this vessel was launched as BARFLEUR. However during construction the decision was made to lengthen the ship by 9 metre, due to growth on the route Cherbourg (France) - Poole (Great Britain). Other sources say due to stability issues. Following sea trials the ferry entered service on the 4th April 1992 for her French operator Truckline Ferries.
