This vessel was built in 1952 as HÅKON JARL for Hurtigruten (Norwegian coastal express service). In de 1980's the ship was sold and in use as hotel ship in Oslo (Norway). In 1991 the vessel was sold to Antwerp (Belgium) and also used as hotel ship. First under the name CHRISTIAN V and later renamed DIAMOND PRINCESS. However her original name HÅKON JARL was until now not removed from the ship's hull.
